Update: Stolen Motorcycles Recovered in Ottawa County Leads to Further Investigations

UPDATE:

In an update to the recent theft of motorcycles from Gypsum on May 9th, a development unfolded when a concerned citizen reported trading for a Harley only to discover it was stolen.

The individual went to the property located at 1592 Aspen Road in Ottawa County to trade his current motorcycle, which led authorities to the scene after receiving the call.

Sheriff's deputies recovered the 1942 red Harley Davidson valued at $50,000. The citizen, alerted by a friend who saw media coverage of the stolen Harleys, cooperated with law enforcement. Upon investigation in Ottawa County, more stolen bikes were uncovered, including the $100,000 Harley reported stolen from Gypsum.

Additionally, another Harley from a prior, unrelated case from 2023 was also recovered. Both the Saline County and Ottawa County Sheriff's Offices also retrieved other stolen property from the residence on Aspen Road. Search warrants were executed for 1592 Aspen Road, and while the suspect remains at large, law enforcement has identified them.

Several ongoing cases are progressing toward resolution due to the recovery of stolen items at the property. However, despite these developments, motorcycles reported missing from Gypsum, including the 1952 blue Harley Panhead and two partial motorcycles, are still unaccounted for.

The total loss and damage are estimated at $220,100.
