UPDATE: A vehicle description was obtained and the registered owner of the vehicle was contacted. It was learned that Miguel Hernandez, a 26-year-old male from Salina, was allegedly operating the vehicle and the suspect in the thefts.

On January 5 around 1 pm, officers made contact with Hernandez at this residence. While speaking with him, they reportedly observed an HP Laptop later confirmed to be the one stolen from Sams Club.

Through the investigation, it was learned that the HP Laptop was actually stolen on December 30, and on January 4, Hernandez had attempted to steal the Samsung Laptop when the alarm went off and he left without the computer.

He was arrested on the following requested charges:

  • Attempted theft
  • theft
  • Damage to property

ORIGINAL: Sams Club is reporting a $2,219 loss after a subject allegedly cut two laptops away from their anti-theft cords.

Officers were dispatched on Tuesday, January 4 at 10:30 am to Sams Club, 2919 Market Place, to the report of someone allegedly cutting a security cable on a laptop. When officers arrived on the scene, the subject had reportedly left. Officers were shown the display area where the laptop theft device had been cut, which totaled $45 each.

The subject allegedly stole an HP PAV X360 2-in-1 Laptop valued at $829. Officers were later notified that Sams Club realized that they were also missing a Samsung Galaxy Laptop valued at $1,300.

The subject was described as being approximately 6 ft tall, thin build, darker skin, possibly Latino or Hispanic, in his late 20's to early 30's, and wearing a gray jacket with a white hat. The subject was last seen leaving northbound on 9th St in a gray or silver Chevy Impala.
