High-Speed Motorcycle Crash Leads to Arrest and Drug Charges

On August 25, at approximately 10:42 p.m., officers observed a motorcycle speeding northbound on the 400 block of North Broadway Boulevard. The rider accelerated away, reaching speeds of nearly 80 mph. When officers activated their lights and sirens, the motorcycle continued to flee, turning eastbound at the intersection of Broadway and Pacific.

The rider lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the roadway, and collided with an Evergy utility pole. The motorcyclist, a 46-year-old male from Salina, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was riding a black 2008 Victory motorcycle. The rider sustained critical injuries and was transported to Wichita for treatment.

During the incident, officers discovered two bags of methamphetamine on the rider's person, weighing 29 grams and 3 grams, respectively. Charges are pending, including felony flee and elude, interference, distribution of methamphetamine, no drug tax stamp, no insurance, no motorcycle license, and reckless driving.
