ATM Tampering Incident at Bank of the Plains

On July 11, it was reported that an unknown male tampered with an ATM at Bank of the Plains, located at 1900 South Ohio Street, on the night of July 5 between 9:30 pm and 10:30 pm. The suspect attempted to access the machine's hard drive potentially to steal money but was unsuccessful. However, the tampering caused significant damage, estimated at $35,000, requiring the machine's replacement.

There was no cash loss and the bank does not believe any personal information was compromised. Police are reviewing video footage in hopes of identifying a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
