Scam at Taco Bell Results in Bitcoin Payment

An incident unfolded between the hours of 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm on March 30th.

A theft occurred at Taco Bell located at 1700 West Crawford Street. The store received a call from an individual claiming to represent "Corporate," alleging a financial discrepancy and insisting on payment in bitcoin.

Falling victim to the scam, an employee purchased bitcoin in three transactions totaling $1,618 from the store's funds. The employee went to a convenience store in Salina to purchase and send the bitcoin as instructed.

The investigation is ongoing.
