SPD Continues to Investigate Pedestrian/Vehicle Accident

On Monday, February 5 at 7:22 am, officers were sent to the YMCA for a vehicle/pedestrian accident. Sgt McCary reported that a 66-year-old Salina man had just left the YMCA parking lot, and was northbound on YMCA Dr in his 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle reportedly struck an 18-year-old female traversing the crosswalk between the parking lots. The female was alert and conscious on EMS arrival, and she was transported for possible severe head trauma consistent with a fractured skull when she hit the ground. SPD is still looking at the scene, and no charges have been filed at this point in time.
