Topeka Homicide Probe Leads to Drug Bust in Salina
A homicide investigation in Topeka led to a significant drug seizure in Salina on Monday, November 11th, when local police executed a search warrant in the 100 block of North College.
The Salina Police Department's SWAT team conducted the raid after receiving information from Topeka law enforcement, who discovered narcotics while investigating a homicide in their jurisdiction. Acting on the tip, Salina officers secured and executed their own search warrant.
The operation yielded over a pound of marijuana and more than 1,000 suspected MDMA (ecstasy) pills. Officers also discovered evidence consistent with drug distribution activities at the residence.
Authorities arrested 18-year-old Demari Owens with requested charges including possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute MDMA, possession of drug paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp, and endangering a child (A 2-year-old child was living in the residence where the drugs were found).
