Theatre Salina Will Open With “COME FROM AWAY”

Theatre Salina is excited to be one of the first community groups nationally to present the award-winning musical COME FROM AWAY to open its 65th season. COME FROM AWAY will replace “Frozen” as the opening show.

COME FROM AWAY is based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family.

This funny and heartfelt musical has delighted millions around the world with its story of how people rise to overcome. It embraces the warmth and humanity we all find necessary every day.

The production will run September 5-28. The rest of the 25-26 season remains the same. The Theatre will produce a new comedy LISTEN; Theatre Salina is also one of the first community groups to be given the right for DR. SEUSS’S HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, THE MUSICAL; TWELVE ANGRY MEN directed by Tyrees Allen; THE SWEET DELILAH SWIM CLUB; THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE in partnership with Kansas Wesleyan University; and JIMMY BUFFET’S ESCAPE TO MARGARTIAVILLE.

Season tickets are now on sale by calling 785-827-6126. Single tickets for all shows will go on sale July 1.
