Teen Driver Injured in Rollover Accident
On August 5, 2024, at approximately 4:10 pm, a single-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Lightville and Schilling. A 2005 Chevy Trailblazer, driven by a 16-year-old male, was traveling northbound on Lightville when it veered off the road to the right. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross into a ditch on the left side and roll over before coming to rest upright.
The driver sustained injuries to his arm and other areas and was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center (SRHC). Two passengers, aged 14 and 16, from the Brookville area, were in the vehicle but were not injured.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing. Preliminary findings suggest a possible violation of Kansas Statute 08-0291, related to age-related driving restrictions.
