Suspect Arrested for Robbery in Downtown Salina; Previous Pepperoni Theft Reported
McCarter, Christopher

A man was arrested following a reported robbery in the 100 block of North Santa Fe on the seventh at 12:25 PM. The victim, a 53-year-old male from Salina, reported that Christopher McCarter, 48, also of Salina, forcibly took his hat in front of witnesses.

The incident led to McCarter’s arrest on robbery charges. Authorities have yet to confirm McCarter's housing situation, with uncertainty surrounding whether he has a known residence. No injuries were reported in the incident, and further details regarding McCarter's legal proceedings are expected to follow as the investigation continues.

A few days prior, McCarter was arrested on September 3rd, around 4:30 a.m., for a vehicle burglary that was reported at the Salina Police Department. Two custodial workers for the city had entered the police station at approximately 1:30 a.m. and left about an hour later. Upon returning to their vehicle, a 34-year-old female from Salina discovered that her vehicle, which was parked in front, had been entered without forced entry.

Upon reviewing surveillance footage, officers identified Christopher McCarter, a 48-year-old male, as the suspect. McCarter, who had been seen in the lobby earlier, was observed on video entering the vehicle and stealing $7 in cash and a large package of Hormel Pepperoni, with a total value of $26.99.

Officers later located McCarter in the 100 block of N Santa Fe, where they found an empty package of Hormel Pepperoni and some cash. McCarter was taken into custody and booked for theft of property/services valued at less than $1,500.
