Update: Salina Police Respond to Suicide at Salina Regional Emergency Room
SALINA, KS β On Thursday, June 26, 2025, shortly after 7:00 AM, Salina police officers responded to the Emergency Room at Salina Regional Health Center following reports of a self-inflicted gunshot incident.
According to authorities, an 87-year-old Salina man entered the ER and spoke with hospital staff. After checking in, the man produced a handgun and shot himself while in the waiting area. No other individuals were present in the immediate vicinity at the time of the incident.
Hospital personnel initiated life-saving measures immediately. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced deceased shortly after 8:00 AM.
The investigation remains ongoing.
SALINA, KS (June 26, 2025) β At approximately 7:08 a.m. on Thursday, Salina Regional Health Center activated its active shooter protocol in response to an incident that occurred in the hospitalβs emergency room.
No patients or staff were harmed during the event.
While the Emergency Room remains operational, incoming patients are being temporarily rerouted to a different area of the hospital to ensure uninterrupted care and safety.
The hospital is fully cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation remains ongoing.
