Saline County Officially Declares State of Local Disaster Emergency

On August 6, 2024, the Saline County Board of Commissioners officially proclaimed a State of Local Disaster Emergency due to severe weather conditions that began on July 31. These conditions caused severe damage and pose ongoing threats to life and property throughout the county.

The proclamation, signed by the board's chairman and members, grants the county special powers under the Kansas Emergency Preparedness Act of 1975. This enables the county to take necessary actions to protect public health and safety. The declaration covers the entire county and will remain in effect for seven days, unless extended or terminated earlier by the commissioners.

Residents are urged to stay informed and follow any directives issued by local authorities as efforts continue to address the emergency.
