K9 Officer Alerts Officer To Possible Drugs During Traffic Stop

An officer on patrol observed a silver 2003 Nissan with expired tags. A traffic stop was conducted in the 700 block of Bishop St at 10:55 pm on Wednesday, December 29. During the traffic stop, the officer discovered the driver had a suspended driver's license and the vehicle tag registration was confirmed to be expired.

A police K-9 was used during the stop and the K-9 allegedly indicated the presence of an odor of illegal narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly revealed illegal drugs.

The driver, 48-year-old Troy Pryor of Salina, was arrested on the following requested charges:

  • Possession of an opiate
  • No drug tax stamp
  • Driving while suspended
  • Vehicle registration violation
  • No proof of insurance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
