The Salina Airport Authority, an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action Employer, invites applications for the position of Maintenance, Operations and Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) Technician.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under supervision, performs manual and skilled labor in the maintenance of airport property, equipment and machinery. Maintains the upkeep of the airport and airport industrial center through occasional moderate work to frequent very heavy work involving the operation of power mowers, chain saws, brush cutters, edger’s and clippers, and other equipment used in landscaping, airport maintenance and right of way clearing. Performs building maintenance on selected Airport Authority buildings. Operates, services and maintains Airport Authority ARFF equipment and vehicles to include tractors, light-duty pickups, dump trucks and mowers; operates snow removal equipment, pavement repair equipment, ARFF equipment and other equipment associated with airport maintenance operations and safety. As necessary, will assist ARFF personnel in the rescue of human souls and the protection of property should there be an aircraft accident or incident. Escorts contractors and other technicians as needed; operates vehicle mounted and portable spray equipment; sprays herbicides for control of weeds; attends training classes for airport maintenance, airport operations and airport ARFF; performs other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Manager of Operations, and the Executive Director. Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma or GED. • Must be able to complete FAA Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting training course within 12 months of hire. • Must be able to complete SAA airfield familiarization and inspection course • Must be self-motivated and have exceptional work ethic. • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures of heat and cold. • Two years experience in general maintenance work. • At least 2-years experience with heavy maintenance equipment • Experience with mowing, vehicle maintenance, and snow removal. • Experience with small equipment maintenance and repair. • General knowledge of electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems. • Ability to interpret blueprints, plans and drawings. • Ability to use hand tools. • Ability to occasionally lift heavy objects.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS HOURLY DOQ BENEFIT OVERVIEW
As a full-time member of Maintenance, Operations and ARFF staff, the following benefits apply: • Health & Dental Insurance - City plan, employee and family plans available - As of January 1, 2021 the SAA pays over 94% of premium—Employee share for a family plan is currently at $100/mo., employee plus one is $80/month and a single plan is $20/mo. • Wellness allowance up to $42/mo. • Life Insurance - Benefit equal to amount of salary - cost paid by SAA. • Time off - Two-weeks paid vacation, 13 paid holidays per year and sick leave. • Retirement Plan - Kansas Public Retirement System (KPERS), SAA contributes 9.84%, employee contributes 6% of annual salary. • IRS - 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. • Cafeteria Plan or Flex Plan (IRS section 125) - deduct un-insured medical expenses, health insurance premiums, and certain dependent care expenses from salary on a pre-tax basis. • AFLAC
