In a remarkable feat, triplet sisters Addison, Mallory, and Claire Renfro of Salina Central's tennis team each achieved their 100th career high school victory in September, solidifying their place among the program's elite. With much of the season still ahead, the Renfro sisters have already hit this milestone while continuing to dominate the courts.
Addison reached her 100th win on September 10th at the Newton Invitational. Mallory followed on September 14th, securing her 100th victory en route to winning the Salina Central Invitational. Claire joined her sisters in the century club on September 24th, partnering with Kinsley Foth to capture the doubles championship at the Wichita Collegiate tournament.
Last year, Addison and Mallory set a school record with 37 wins in a single season, the highest in Salina Central girls' tennis history. While all three sisters play both singles and doubles, they have primarily focused on doubles during their high school careers. Reflecting on their shared success, Addison remarked, “The opportunity to experience this with my sisters and the teammates we’ve grown up with has been a lot of fun.”
The Renfro sisters have been instrumental in Salina Central’s recent success. The Mustangs have won the Regional team championship for the past three years and have finished as the 5A State runner-up twice, along with a third-place finish during that span. The triplets have each earned individual regional championships and state medals, while also excelling academically, earning All-State honors.
“We love to compete and play the game. We hope to inspire other young girls to play and embrace the tradition and history of Salina Central tennis,” Mallory shared.
Claire added, “Participation and success in Central’s girls tennis has grown over the last four years, and we have 25 girls on the team this season. Our coaches give us the opportunity to be the best we can be.”
The Mustangs have a busy schedule ahead, with a meet in Topeka this week followed by the AVCTL II League tournament in Andover next week. Regionals will take place on October 12th at Salina Central, with the 5A State tournament set for October 18th and 19th at Andover Central High School.
