Projectile from Shots Fired Ends Up in Home a Mile Away

SPD are investigating if a possible projectile found in a home have a connection to shots being fired a mile away.

Captain Forrester says that officers were called to 2130 E Crawford on Tuesday, May 2, at 10:30 pm, at the Heather Ridge Apartments, for possible shots fired. Witnesses reported that two males were running from the scene, one to the north and the other to the south. Two witnesses also reported a male subject had fired four rounds, possibly from a handgun. Officers located two .40 caliber shell casings at the scene.

At the same time, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Moundview. A 76-year-old victim and his wife were in their home when they heard a noise. The man found a hole in the blinds on a window in the rear of the home, which faces to the east. The victim also found a projectile under his dining room table, which is near the window. The bullet had traveled through the window and blinds, causing $1,000 damage.

SPD is investigating whether this is the same projectile from the shots fired on E Crawford. The distance between the two locations is 1,400 meters, or just under a mile.
