Post Office Dedicated in 1938

In 1938 Salina's new post office building was dedicated. The dedication ceremony included speeches from several prominent figures, including the U.S. Postmaster General. Another familiar face that spoke at the ceremony was former mayor, Guy T. Helvering, who was the Commissioner of Internal Revenue. The photograph shows the dedication ceremony. The building was home for USPS for nearly 50 years until they moved into their current building at Fifth and Ash in 1985. The museum moved into the building and reopened in 1986.
