Police Respond to Incident Involving Juvenile & Corrections Officers
On Tuesday, February 27, at 3:40 PM, an officer on patrol in the 900 block of Hancock was approached by two Community Corrections officers seeking assistance with a 14-year-old male client. As the officer engaged with one of the corrections officers, he reportedly witnessed the juvenile wielding a PVC pipe towards the other officer, aged 25.
Efforts to restrain the juvenile ensued, with both officers and the responding law enforcement official working to subdue him. Despite resistance, the situation was contained without any injuries, although the juvenile allegedly kicked one of the officers during the altercation.
The juvenile was apprehended and faces requested charges of Aggravated Assault, Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer, and Interference with Law Enforcement. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.
