Salina started off celebrating Independence Day at the Parks and Recreation Department's annual Play Day at the Park. There were old-fashioned games and activities, including sack racing, tic-tac-toe, and tug-of-war.
The Salina Municipal Band performed patriotic songs on the Eric Stein Stage, led by Tom Miles.
In addition to games and entertainment, free food was provided for everyone. Hotdogs, watermelon, ice cream and soft drinks were served and enjoyed.
