THURSDAY UPDATE: Captain Forrester says that Officers were dispatched to the Central Mall, 2250 S 9th, at 7:30 on Wednesday, May 10, for a possible stabbing. Officers arrived on the scene and made contact with a Mall security guard who had observed the alleged event. The security guard had been approached by several teens claiming there was an adult male in the Mall, trying to give them cigarettes and also reported that the man had invited them to go home with them.
One kid called his father, who arrived at the Mall a short time later and was later identified as the 41-year-old victim. The dad located the possible subject in the Mall parking lot, on the east side of Ross Dress for Less. The victim confronted the subject, telling the guy to leave the kids alone. It was at this point that the subject allegedly took a couple of swings at the victim's left side. The victim then punched the male back in the face, knocking him to the ground. As the victim turned to walk away, he realized that he had been stabbed.
Other responding Officers found the possible suspect in the Mall, after he had allegedly walked through Ross and was in the Food Court area. He was identified as 61-year-old Michael Lilly of Salina, and was allegedly in possession of a large fixed blade knife. Mr Lilly was arrested on the following requested charges:
- Aggravated Battery
The victim was transported to SRHC and had a punctured lung.
UPDATE: At 9 pm, Salina Fire Department Battalion Chief Kirk Stover has confirmed to Salina311 that there was a stabbing at Central Mall this evening. However, he was unable to release anymore details.
ORIGINAL: At 7:30 pm on Wednesday, May 10, Salina Police Officers responded to a possible stabbing at Central Mall. Reports indicate that there is at least one victim with unknown injuries. Officers have indicated that a possible suspect is in custody. Reports also indicate that the location of the alleged stabbing was around Ross Dress for Less and AMC Theaters.
