Jane A. Eikleberry

Jane A. Eikleberry, 88, of Salina, died Sunday, August 18, 2024, in Salina. She was born on November 29, 1935, to Evelyn and Burton Jackson of Barnard, Kansas.

Jane graduated from Barnard High School, where she was Homecoming Queen. She attended Kansas State University and Bethany College. Jane moved to Salina, where she worked for various county offices in the old Saline County Courthouse. She also worked for First National Bank, Morrison Grain, and a debt-collection business.

While working in the courthouse, Jane met Ernest Eikleberry, who she married in 1960. Their daughter, Leslie, was born nearly a year later. Jane loved her family dearly.

Jane will be remembered for her laugh, which was contagious. She could find something funny in just about any situation. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends for hours on end.

Jane enjoyed sewing, French hand sewing, reading, and Chiefs football and Royals baseball. Jane was a member of several Bible study groups and even led one. She also participated in the Piece Makers sewing group at the senior center.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ernie. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie; her brother, Jere (Elaine); nieces Lori (Jeff) and Jennifer (Tracy) and their families; a number of cousins; and a multitude of friends, including Chuck and Bobbi Shannon, Wayne and Dorothy Owen, and Dan and Janet Sparks.

Visitation is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 23, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth Street, with family in attendance from 5-7 p.m. The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, at Ryan Mortuary, with a private burial in the Brookville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salina Emergency Aid / Food Bank or Salina Animal Services.


Kerry Lee Walton

Kerry Lee Walton, 55, of Marquette, KS passed away Friday August 16th at 3:15 pm at Salina Regional Health Center after several months of battling an illness. Kerry was born July 18, 1969, in Macomb, IL to Charles and Bonnie (Riser) Walton.

Kerry was united in marriage to April Wilkewitz on November 21, 1994, in Carthage, IL. Kerry was the proud father of five children: Chelsey (Kodi) McDaniel of Salina, KS, Joshua (Chelsea)Walton of McPherson, KS, Caleb (Maggie) Walton of Riverside, MO, Tessalyn (Simon) Gadberry of Marquette, KS and Gabriel Walton of Marquette, KS. Kerry had five beautiful grandchildren: Carter, Brantley, Treygan, Starla and Emmalyn. Kerry is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Kerry was the middle child between his older brother, Stacy Walton of Plymouth, IL, and younger sister Alice (Walton) Wall of Bardolph, IL and foster sister Gloria (Pettet) Simmons of Macomb, IL. They survive, along with numerous nieces and nephews, several aunts and uncles, cousins and his grandma, Gert Walton of Macomb, IL.

Kerry was a 1987 graduate of Colchester High School in Colchester, IL. He joined the Army in 1987 and served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1998. He proceeded to drive over the road trucks from 1998 until he was disabled by cancer in 2007. Kerry was a proud citizen of Marquette KS for the past 20 years and enjoyed helping coach youth sports and volunteering at Marquette Motorcycle Museum as his health allowed.

Kerry is preceded in death by his mother and father, Uncle Jim Walton and best friends Todd Persinger and Patrick β€œPotsy” Weber.

Kerry's wish was to be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be hosted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Marquette Motorcycle Museum, the Marquette Youth Sports Program, and the Marquette Art Room in c/o the City of Marquette. P.O. Box 401, Marquette, KS 67464.


Beryl Josephine Robinson

Beryl Josephine Robinson, 95, of Abilene, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 15th, at Village Manor in Abilene, Kansas.

Beryl was born in Colon Republic of Panama on July 6, 1929, to Ann Marie (Mallvett) and Wilfred Augusta Atkinson.

She married Jesse Robinson in Panama and they traveled to many countries while he was in the military. They later divorced and she moved to Salina in 1973.

Beryl worked as caregiver at St Joseph's Children's home in Salina, Tony's Pizza, USD #305 in the cafeteria, tutoring/counseling program, and was also an ESL translator for Spanish speaking families.

She attended the Church of Christ in Salina and was a member of the ladies Bible study group.

Survivors include her sons, Al Robinson, of Newton, Ron Robinson (Jeannie), of Lawrence, Michael Robinson (Wendy), of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Danny Robinson (Wendy), of Abilene; and daughter-in-law, Jane Robinson. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Beryl is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bertram, Gertrude, Paul, Helen, Edna, Amy, St. John, and Wilfred Jr.; son, Reggie Robinson; and daughter-in-law, Laurie Robinson.

Beryl's wishes were to be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Church of Christ, 1646 N. 9th, Salina, Kansas.

Donations may be made to the Church of Christ, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina, Kansas.

Barbara Jean "Barb" Swearingen

Barbara Jean Swearingen, 95, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Friday, August 16th, 2024.

Barbara was born in Scandia, Kansas on November 15, 1928, a daughter of Lois May (Johnson) and Glenn Myron Housholder.

Barb graduated from Scandia High School in 1946.

She was a homemaker, (in the words of Barb) professional goof off, and helped her sons as a bookkeeper in their grain elevator business.

She was also a former Moose Lodge member, VFW Auxiliary, Bridge player and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Salina.

On October 27, 1946, Barb married Glen Swearingen in Scandia, Kansas.

Survivors include her daughter, Darcy Strait (Roger), of Belleville, Kansas; son, Kim Swearingen (Carole), of Maui, Hawaii; and her sister, Nancy Westbrook (Jerry), of Loveland, Colorado.  
 
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen Swearingen; and grandsons, Daniel and Kyle Strait

Cremation was chosen and no services are planned.
