Motorcyclist Escapes Serious Injury After Vehicle Pulls Out In Front Of Him

SPD and EMS responded to Ohio and Schilling on Monday, December 20, at 4:15 pm for a motorcycle accident.

A 23-year-old rider from Wichita was traveling southbound on Schilling on a 2009 Honda CVR, when an unknown vehicle allegedly drove out in front of him, causing the motorcycle rider to swerve and hit the curb. The motorcycle rider was ejected.

A witness reported to police that the motorcycle was traveling 60-70 mph when the driver struck the curb. A second witness reported the same, with the motorcycle traveling 65-70 mph. A third witness reported that a vehicle came out from Schilling, traveling eastbound, in front of the motorcycle causing him to swerve and hit the curb.

The motorcycle driver sustained minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital. He was cited for reckless driving. It's reported that he was wearing a helmet.
