KWU Men's Golf Finishes Tied for 3rd at KCAC Match Play
Kansas Wesleyan Men's Golf finished in a tie for third place at the KCAC Match Play Championships held on Monday and Tuesday at Mariah Hills Golf Club.
The Coyotes, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, opened with a 4-0-1 win in the quarterfinal round of the tournament over No. 10 seed Southwestern College. Trevor Watson won his match 7&5, Ethan Vikander won 5&3, Brooks Guinn was 4-Up with four holes to play when the match was decided, and Caden Stevens won 9&7. Jackson Malone tied in his match.
In the semifinals, KWU faced Bethany, but lost 3-0-2. Ethan Vikander and Joei Wisocki drew their matches. Stevens lost 3&2, and Malone lost 3&2. Trevor Watson's match went to extra holes, where he lost in 19 holes.
KWU faced Friends in what was supposed to be the third-place match. Prior to the match beginning, the coaches agreed to call the match a draw and both would tie for third place. The teams instead played with no final result being tallied.
KWU is next in action next week, heading to Memphis, for the NAIA Memphis Shootout at TPC Southwind.
