Juveniles Arrested for Series of Incidents Including Arson and Burglary

On April 12th, officers responded to Schwan's for a vehicle burglary. A work truck had been broken into, with perpetrators rummaging through the cab and setting off a fire extinguisher inside, resulting in $800 in damage and loss. No suspects were initially identified.

Two days later, on the 14th, officers were dispatched to the 2600 block of Centennial Road for juveniles setting a fire in the ditch. Officers extinguished the fire, which had caused $40 in damage. The Salina Fire Department assisted in extinguishing the blaze that was burning a 10ft by 4ft area of grass and bush. Juveniles, aged 13 and 16, were taken into custody after initially providing false names.

It was discovered they were runaways from a boys home on 5097 West Cloud Street. Further investigation revealed the juveniles also attempted to break into Snak Attack, causing $1000 in damage to a window.

They have the requested charges of arson, attempted burglary, obstruction, trespassing, vehicle burglary, and damage to property; they were taken to juvenile detention in Junction City.
