Salina Police Department Enacts Emergency Accident Reporting Plan

The Salina Police Department has implemented the Emergency Accident Reporting Plan once again, just 12 hours after the previous plan expired. This action has been taken in response to worsening severe weather and hazardous driving conditions. The current conditions have led to a surge in motor vehicle accidents, exceeding the department's ability to respond promptly.

Eligible Accidents

The Emergency Accident Reporting Plan applies to:

  • Non-hit-and-run accidents.
  • Accidents with no personal injuries.
  • Accidents that do not require towing.
  • Accidents not involving alcohol or drugs.

Driver Requirements

If involved in an eligible accident, drivers must:

  1. Exchange personal information with other drivers or property owners involved.
  2. Complete an Emergency Accident Reporting Plan form with as much detail as possible.
  3. Mail or deliver the completed form to the Salina Police Department within 48 hours.
