June Declared Men’s Health Month in Saline County

The Saline County Board of Commissioners has proclaimed June 2024 as Men’s Health Month, with June 10-16 designated as Men’s Health Week. This initiative is part of a global effort to educate men, boys, and their families about the importance of regular health screenings and healthy lifestyles.

Men in the U.S. have a life expectancy five years shorter than women and face higher rates of serious health issues like diabetes, obesity, cancer, and heart disease. The Covid-19 pandemic has further impacted men's health, reducing their life expectancy by two years.

Men’s Health Month aims to raise awareness about the mental and physical health needs of men and boys, emphasizing the importance of preventive health measures. The growing issues of suicide and substance abuse also highlight the need for greater awareness of mental health challenges among men.

Thousands of organizations participate in Men’s Health Month, promoting wellness through various events and resources. For more information, visit WearBlueDay.org, WearBlueForMensHealth.com, MHNHealthZone.com, and MensHealthMonth.org.
