High-Speed Chase Leads to Drug Bust and Arrest
On August 13 at 2:30 pm, an officer in Salina observed a gray Nissan Pathfinder driven by 38-year-old Anthony Mack II in the 1000 block of Yale. Knowing Mack had a suspended license and an outstanding warrant, the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop in the 900 block of Willis. Mack fled at high speeds, nearly crashing at Broadway and Ninth. The officer chose not to pursue, but later officers spotted Mack at Craft Manor near Ninth and Cloud.
Mack attempted to hide behind a building, where officers discovered marijuana discarded in a nearby backyard. Inside the vehicle, they found 16 grams of cocaine. A subsequent search warrant executed at Mack's residence in the 1000 block of Yale uncovered 160 grams of cocaine, marijuana, packaging materials, two firearms, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Authorities have requested multiple charges, including distribution of cocaine and marijuana, possession of a stimulant, possession of marijuana, aggravated endangering a child (due to the close proximity of a child to the residence), possession of drug paraphernalia, and fleeing and eluding law enforcement. The investigation is ongoing.
