SALINA — Vance White, an Assistant County Attorney for Saline County, was arrested for driving under the influence after voluntarily appearing at the Salina Police Department on Wednesday evening.
According to Salina Police Captain James Feldman, White arrived at the station where officers observed signs of impairment. “When he arrived, officers observed Mr. White appeared to be under the influence of suspected alcohol,” Feldman said.
Officers determined that White had operated a vehicle prior to arriving at the station. A DUI investigation was initiated, and it was concluded that he was over the legal limit to drive. “He was subsequently booked into the Saline County Jail,” Feldman added.
Salina311 inquired about White’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) at the time of the test. However, the department declined to release that information. It is unclear whether this decision is based on local policy, state statute, or broader legal standards. Under Kansas law, the legal BAC limit for drivers 21 and over is 0.08% or higher.
Salina311 will be following up to determine why the specific BAC result cannot be made public and whether there is a formal policy or law restricting its release.
White’s position as Assistant County Attorney was confirmed by Saline County Attorney John Reynolds. The case remains under investigation.
