Domestic Incident Leads to Arrest on East Prescott

On the evening of August 17, 2024, at around 6:45 pm, police were dispatched to the 400 block of East Prescott Street in response to a domestic dispute. A 29-year-old female, who resides at the residence, contacted authorities after a confrontation with 53-year-old Robby VanZile.

The victim reported that a verbal argument escalated when she attempted to leave the residence. Upon returning to retrieve her belongings, VanZile allegedly smashed her phone and blocked her exit. VanZile secured the back door with screws, preventing her escape. As she attempted to leave through the front door, VanZile reportedly pushed her to the ground, placed his foot on her neck applying pressure, pulled her hair, and threatened to strike her. He also slapped her on the back.

The victim finally managed to escape and sought help from a neighbor, who then contacted the police. VanZile was taken into custody at the residence and faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery, aggravated kidnapping, domestic battery, criminal damage to property, and violation of a protection order. The victim was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
