At the July 23, 2024, meeting, the County Commission passed a request from the Employee Safety Committee to implement a new incentive program. The initiative aims to promote safe work practices, reduce workplace accidents, and reward employees for maintaining high safety standards.
The approved request allows the safety committee to award 8, 4, and 2-hour vacation leave awards for top safety suggestions each calendar quarter or during committee meetings. The committee will establish criteria for these awards, ensuring they are only granted when the required safety standards are met.
Mark Talbott, Committee Chair, emphasized that this program builds on the county's expanded safety policy approved in April 2024, fostering a culture of safety and improving overall productivity. The initiative is expected to lead to fewer accidents, lower injury rates, and a safer work environment for all county employees.
