Fifteen-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Skaggs and his band Kentucky Thunder will perform at the Stiefel Theatre on Friday, April 4, at 7:30 PM.
Tickets for the performance will go on sale Friday, January 31, at 10 AM, with prices starting at $39. Tickets will be available at the Stiefel Theatre Box Office and through the theatre's website.
Kentucky Thunder's current lineup features Russ Carson on banjo, Jake Workman on lead guitar, Dennis Parker on baritone vocals and guitar, Gavin Kelso on bass, Mike Rogers on tenor vocals and rhythm guitar, and Billy Contreras on fiddle.
Skaggs, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, began his musical career in bluegrass before transitioning to mainstream country music in the late 1970s. His work at Epic Records produced 12 number-one hits, and he was named the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year in 1985.
In 1997, Skaggs returned to his bluegrass roots with the formation of his record label, Skaggs Family Records. His band, Kentucky Thunder, has won the International Bluegrass Music Association's Instrumental Group of the Year award eight times.
