City of Salina to Accept Applications for Home Rehabilitation Program

City of Salina to Accept Applications for Home Rehabilitation Program

The City of Salina's Community Relations Division will begin accepting applications for the Neighborhood Repair & Rehabilitation Program (NRRP) starting April 28, 2025.

The program is funded through $300,000 awarded from the Kansas Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). City officials aim to assist low-to-moderate income individuals with the rehabilitation of approximately 10-12 homes in the target area.

"Applications will be reviewed for eligibility on a first-come, first-ready basis," said a city spokesperson. The grant will provide partial funding for the NRRP, which initially began in early 2024.

An important change with this new funding is the expansion of eligible properties. Unlike previous funding that only covered owner-occupied homes, the CDBG funding now allows rental properties to apply for rehabilitation assistance.

The NRRP focuses on a 10-block area bounded by State Street to the north, Ninth Street to the east, South Street to the south, and Broadway to the west. The program aims to make improvements to the structural integrity of homes within this defined neighborhood.

Residents interested in applying or seeking more information should contact the City of Salina's Community Relations Division.
