City of Salina Seeks Volunteers for Citizen Boards and Commissions
The City of Salina is currently accepting expression-of-interest forms for various vacancies on citizen boards, commissions, and committees. These positions offer an opportunity for residents to get involved in community decisions and development. Openings include:
- Animal Control Advisory & Appeals Board: Two Citizens-at-Large, Two Youth Members
- Arts & Humanities Commission: One Citizen-at-Large, Two Youth Members
- Board of Zoning Appeals: Two Youth Members
- Building Advisory Board: Design Professional (Architect or Engineer), Two Youth Members
- Business Improvement District Design Review: Design Professional
- Heritage Commission: One Citizen-at-Large (Preferred: Real Estate/Legal Professional, Historian, Urban Planner, Architect, Archaeologist), Two Youth Members
- Housing Authority: Citizen-at-Large within City Limits
- Human Relations Commission: Two members of an ethnic/minority group
- Parks & Recreation Advisory Board: One Citizen-at-Large, Two Youth Members
- Planning Commission: One Youth Member
- Solid Waste Management Committee: One Citizen-at-Large nominated by Saline County, Resident of a 3rd Class City (Smolan, Gypsum, Brookville, Assaria, or New Cambria), One Youth Member
- Tree Advisory Board: Two Youth Members
The Youth on Board program allows individuals between ages 15-20 who are attending secondary or post-secondary schools to serve a one-year term on select boards.
