In her new role, Cadenhead will oversee the university's academic advising and admissions teams, focusing on improving access to education for learners at all levels as part of the Next-Gen K-State strategic plan.
Cadenhead, who joined K-State Salina in 2023 as the director of advising, will leverage her extensive experience to enhance enrollment efforts and improve retention and graduation rates. Her responsibilities will include guiding students through the admissions process, assisting with financial aid, and ensuring that academic support services are tailored to meet student needs.
"Students who choose K-State Salina are drawn to the university's commitment to blending cutting-edge technology with practical, real-world applications," Cadenhead said. "My focus will be on providing the resources each learner needs to succeed, from applying to the university to planning their path to graduation."
Prior to her tenure at K-State Salina, Cadenhead served as the student services manager at Metropolitan Community College for over a decade, where she played a key role in boosting enrollment and retention through innovative advising and enrollment strategies. Her career also includes roles at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Metropolitan Community College, where she gained experience in academic advising, enrollment services, and student support.
Cadenhead holds a bachelor's degree in speech communication and public relations from McKendree University and a master's degree in academic advising from Kansas State University, earned in 2022.
"Christal brings years of experience in providing excellent student-centered services," said Alysia Starkey, K-State Salina CEO and dean. "Her leadership will be instrumental as we continue to develop global leaders in aerospace, technology, and other critical fields."
Cadenhead's appointment is expected to further strengthen K-State Salina's commitment to providing innovative, student-focused education.
