A ribbon cutting ceremony for AeroPlains Homes will take place on Thursday, May 22 at 3:00 PM at 2753 Tim Rogers Lane, celebrating the completion of a major phase in one of Salina’s newest residential developments. The public is invited to attend the event, which will include refreshments, home tours, and an opportunity to view the progress of a project that’s helping address a long-standing need in the community.

For the better part of a decade, Salina, Kansas has faced a well-documented shortage of housing, particularly for working families and first-time homebuyers. The limited supply has constrained workforce growth and slowed residential development despite rising demand. The AeroPlains project is a direct response to that challenge.

AeroPlains is a planned community featuring high-quality, energy-efficient homes built by local contractors. With 50 homes now completed and on the market, the development marks one of the most significant local housing expansions in recent years.

Salina Mayor Greg Lenkiewicz emphasized the importance of the project, calling it “a significant step forward for the city.”

“This project represents what’s possible when local developers and city government work together to meet real community needs,” Lenkiewicz said. “High-quality, affordable housing is essential for Salina’s continued growth, and AeroPlains delivers both.”
“We’re proud to support developments like this that strengthen neighborhoods and help shape the future of our city,” he added.

Renee Duxler, President and CEO of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, praised the collaboration behind the development.

“We’re grateful to local developers who have really taken the initiative to address the housing shortage in Salina,” Duxler said. “AeroPlains has been a great partner with the City and our economic development partners to create affordable and sustainable housing for workforce and families who want to take advantage of the jobs, quality of life, and educational opportunities Salina has to offer.”

City leaders, economic development officials, and community members view the AeroPlains project as a catalyst for future growth — one that demonstrates how strategic partnerships and local investment can help solve critical infrastructure challenges.

The ribbon cutting event is open to the public. Community members are encouraged to attend and celebrate this continued investment in the future of Salina and Saline County.
